After Hair Transplant – Taking Proper Care of Your Scalp After Hair Transplant

Hair transplant surgery has come a long way since the initial hair plugs of the 1970s. Nowadays, surgeons use advanced technology to achieve natural-looking results from hair transplantation surgery. Find the best Hair transplant in Turkey.

Beginning the procedure requires cleaning and numbing your scalp by the doctor, followed by creating small holes or slits called graft sites, which should form scabs that will fall off after about seven days.

Recovering from the procedure

After receiving a hair transplant, it is expected to feel discomfort in the days following. Over-the-counter painkillers should provide relief. Furthermore, taking omega-3-rich vitamin supplements could further aid in the healing process.

Within the first week, you may experience discomfort both in donor and transplanted areas of your scalp as your follicles adjust to their new locations. Scabbing at both sites is a normal part of the healing process.

By the second week, you should be able to wash your hair. However, solid ingredients or excessive heat shampoos should be avoided, and no clothing that touches the transplanted area should come into contact until permitted by a physician.

Your scalp must also receive regular moisturizing with a thick moisturizing conditioner, both on grafted and non-grafted areas, to promote healing and reduce scabbing. Apply it yourself or get someone else to spray it for you.

After several weeks, you may notice that transplanted hair begins to fall out, but don’t panic; this is perfectly normal and will eventually result in fuller locks over time. This process may take up to nine months; therefore, it is wise to be patient while waiting for results to become evident over time.

Post-operative care

Pain and tenderness after hair transplant surgery are entirely normal and should subside quickly, although pain relievers should be used if necessary. You may also notice scabs or crusting appear on your scalp, which will eventually fall off; these symptoms should not cause alarm – they’re simply signs that your transplanted hair is healing correctly.

Itching is another side effect of surgery and usually manifests 7-14 days post-surgery. While this itch may be temporary, severe cases should be treated with antihistamine medication to mitigate it further.

Once the crusting and scabs have fallen off, you may begin washing your hair according to the exact instructions given by your physician. Care must be taken when cleaning grafted areas so as not to disturb follicular unit grafts. Vigorous physical activity should be avoided after this point as this will increase blood pressure in the scalp and may lead to excessive sweating, which increases the risk of an infection at graft sites.

After ten days, you should resume exercising as long as it doesn’t make your head sweat excessively. Shampoo and brush your hair again, but ensure you use a shampoo specifically suited to your hair type.

Scalp care

As part of your post-hair transplant surgery recovery and to achieve desired results, taking proper care of your scalp after hair transplant surgery is of utmost importance. Spending the time to wash and moisturize can minimize discomfort while speeding up healing processes and helping avoid complications. Your surgeon should have provided specific instructions regarding washing and post-surgery care; be sure to follow them.

Washing your scalp after transplant requires gentle care to avoid dislodging any tiny grafts or losing their positions. Your surgeon may suggest using a particular shampoo on the transplanted areas. Lather some shampoo in both hands before applying it gently across donor and transplanted areas without applying pressure; scratching may introduce bacteria that lead to infection or worsen an existing one.

Following the procedure, it’s normal to experience some temporary scabs on your scalp that will gradually fall off over time. Furthermore, some transplanted follicles could die out over time; this should not cause alarm; it is part of the natural growth cycle for hair.

As much as possible, you should avoid exposing the transplanted area of your scalp to direct sunlight; when going outdoors, it’s advisable to wear a hat as this can protect it. Furthermore, excessive sweating should be avoided as this may hinder healing efforts and increase swelling or fever; should these symptoms arise, they must contact their physician immediately.

Follow-up appointments

After hair transplantation, patients must attend follow-up appointments. This enables the physician to monitor how the scalp is healing as well as provide instructions on how to care for transplanted follicles and heal your transplanted scalp.

After surgery, patients may notice small pimples on their scalps, which is a good sign. New follicles are developing quickly, which indicates that transplanted hair follicles are surviving and producing further hair growth. Furthermore, donors may notice some thinning or falling out, but this should not worry them as new hair will grow back within three to six months.

Patients must avoid smoking and alcohol immediately following their procedure to speed the healing process and promote optimal blood flow to their scalp and transplanted follicles. They should consult with their surgeon to establish when it’s safe to resume regular exercises and other strenuous activities.

Patients should avoid tight headwear that puts pressure on the scalp and damages its grafts, such as tight braided headwear. Eating fruits and vegetables rich in essential nutrients is also recommended, while supplementation such as biotin, saw palmetto extract, and finasteride may promote hair growth.
